If traveling via the Underground, the closest stations are Whitechapel (directions from here), which is on the District and Hammersmith & City Lines, and Shadwell (directions from here), which is on the East London Line and DLR.

If traveling by bus the closest lines are the No. 15 and alight at the McDonalds on Commercial Road (directions from here) or the No. 25 and alight at the Royal London Hospital at Whitechapel (directions from here).

Everyone is welcome to come and watch the normal classes though those with no martial experience may be required to take a beginner's course before joining in.

Training is based on a traditional methods which do not include a formal grading system or belts. As students gain knowledge and experience their training becomes more difficult. Initially students learn simple footwork and single stick drills. These progress into more complex double stick and knife and stick drills, both with a partner and without. Once a student is ready they will then start light sparring and then move onto full contact which requires full body armor.

All students are encouraged to compete in stick fighting tournaments, regardless of the organization hosting the event. We believe that tournaments help students gage their own skills and help prepare them to defend themselves in real situations.

If you are new to the Kalis Ilustrisimo system, you may need to complete our beginners course before joining the main class. This course runs for six weeks and will ground you in the basic principles and techniques of the Kalis Ilustrisimo system.
